Here comes BYD’s Sealion 7
BYD Jamaica is set to launch the Sealion 7 in April 2025.
The electric performance SUV will join the Dolphin, Han, Tang, Seal, E6, customer favourites the Yuan Plus, and the super plug-in hybrid, the Song Plus DM-i.
“The Sealion 7 is a premium product and will compete with similar offerings from the premium European brands. It is also priced to compete with similar-sized Japanese and Korean SUVs. The Sealion 7 puts all of its competitors on notice by being the most feature-filled SUV on offer, at a very attractive price,” said Sloane Jackson, head of business, BYD Jamaica.
The Sealion 7 is capable of accelerating from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 215 kilometres per hour. Its 82.5 kWh battery provides 328 horsepower and a maximum range of 502 kilometres. The battery has a maximum charging speed of 230 kWh, and is chargeable from 10 to 80 per cent in 24 minutes using a fast charger.
“The Sealion 7 has the distinction of being the largest right-hand drive EV SUV to join the model range, with the option of all-wheel drive (AWD). It is also the most powerful SUV in the range, as it matches the power and torque found in the quickest right-hand drive BYD model, the Seal AWD,” said Jackson.
A highlight feature of the Sealion 7 will be Vehicle to Load (VTOL), which allows external devices to be powered by the vehicle using an internal or external socket.
“Features include BYD Assistant, a 360° camera, Intelligent Cruise Control, ventilated seats, and remote start, amongst many other features you’ll have to experience for yourself. If you’re looking for premium, sustainable, reasonably-priced mobility, look no further than BYD,” Jackson said.
