Future PNP Gov’t will incorporate AI technology into road maintenance, says Golding
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A strategic, 10-year national road maintenance and rehabilitation plan that incorporates the use of AI technology will be used to tackle the problem of Jamaica’s bad roads under a future People’s National Party (PNP) government.
Opposition Leader Mark Golding says the approach to fixing roads under his leadership “will move away from reactive patchwork solutions to preventative maintenance and strategic resource allocation, saving billions long-term and delivering sustained improvements.”
“With the input of our bright young professionals, we will integrate modern technologies, such as AI-driven road condition assessment tools, in the management of the maintenance of our roads. This will predict road deterioration and recommend precise maintenance interventions, thereby reducing overall costs,” he said.
Golding addressed the issue on Tuesday during his contribution to the 2025/26 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives.
