JCA Michael Holding Senior Cup set to bowl off

The Clarendon Cricket Association (CA) versus St Catherine CA contest at Jamalco in Halse Hall, Clarendon, will be the featured match of round one as the Stewart’s Automotive-sponsored Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Michael Holding Senior Cup bowls off this weekend. The two-day encounter is scheduled to start this morning.

The match of the round is one of the raft of new features instituted by the JCA to ignite spectator support and pump interest in the rebranded competition and the sport overall.

In Zone B, Westmoreland CA are to go up against St James CA at Paradise, while Trelawny CA tackle Hanover CA at Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium.

In Zone C, St Ann CA will flex their muscles against visiting Portland CA at Port Rhoades Sports Club, while St Mary CA are to battle G C Foster College at Boscobel Oval.

Defending champions Kingston Cricket Club (CC) are to begin their title quest in Zone C against visitors Boys’ Town CC at Sabina Park, and St Thomas CA pit their skills against Jamaica Defence Force at Springfield.

Zone E serves up a mouthwatering clash between neighbours Lucas CC and Kensington CC at Nelson Oval, while Mico face off with Police at Mico University campus.

Kingston & St Andrew CA are to clash with Melbourne CC at Maxfield Park and University of the West Indies go up against St Catherine CC at Mona Bowl in Zone F.

The six group winners along with the two best second-place finishers will advance to the quarter-finals which are slated to begin on May 10.

JCA Cricket Operations and Development Manager O’Neil Cruickshank expects an exciting round of matches and has urge discipline among teams and players.
