JAAA names 22-member team to World Indoor Championships
KINGSTON, Jamaica -Rusheen McDonald, bronze medalist at the 2024 World Athletics World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, has been included in Jamaica’s 22-member squad to participate in next weekend’s staging of the championships in Nanjing, China.
The squad is made up of seven women and 15 men.
McDonald, who is also the national outdoor 400m record holder, was one of three Jamaican bronze medalists at the 2024 edition, along with sprinter Ackeem Blake and long jumper Carey McLeod.
Five US-based college athletes have also been included in the team, the first time in years that college athletes have been included in a team to represent the country during the college semester.
Joanne Reid of the University of Arkansas, Jerome Campbell of the University of Northern Colorado, Demario Prince and Demar Francis of Baylor University and Kimar Farquharson of Texas A&M University were named to the team by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA).
