Man charged after allegedly assaulting police
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Thirty-three-year-old Andrew Wilkinson, a farmer of Bryan’s Land, Spaulding, Clarendon was charged following an incident at Spaulding town centre in the parish on Saturday, March 08.
He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault at common law.
Reports from the Spaulding police are that about 11:30 am, lawmen were patrolling the area when they saw Wilkinson who was wanted by the police. The lawmen approached him and attempted to place him under arrest, which he resisted and proceeded to hit one officer in his face causing bruising and swelling. He then allegedly pulled a weapon and advanced towards the officers in a threatening manner. He was shot during the altercation and taken to the hospital where he was treated and released into police custody.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
A court date for him is being arranged.
