Breaking the cycle
Jamaican-born nurse Dr Sandra Lindsay joins Camperdown High School students for a selfie at the handover ceremony for sanitary products donated by the Sandra Lindsay Foundation as a part of its period poverty project that was launched at the school on March 4.
Dr Lindsay, vice-president of public health advocacy at Northwell Health in New York, was made famous for being the first person in the United States to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, outside of a clinical trial.
She has since made it her mission to give back to Jamaica, through health missions with Northwell Health, and most recently, with the donation of period products to women and girls on the island.
