Under pressure Eve for Life appoints new board chair
EVE for Life, the non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting women and girls affected by HIV/AIDS and sexual and gender-based violence, has tapped an experienced international administrator to lead its board of governors.
In a media release on Thursday Eve for Life announced that Jewel Daniels Radford is the new chair of its board.
According to Eve for Life, Daniels Radford brings decades of expertise in non-profit governance, organisational strategy, and social impact, positioning her to lead it into a new era of resilience and growth.
As the youngest and first female chair of the Georgia Summit of African American Business Organisations and a former president of multiple United States-based non-profit entities, Daniels Radford has championed initiatives that empower marginalised communities.
Eve for Life said Daniels Radford’s active engagement in the Human Resource Management Association of Jamaica, Western Chapter, and the Jamaica Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, further demonstrates her dedication to advocacy, mentorship, and capacity-building.
Daniels Radford’s appointment comes at a critical time for Eve for Life as the organisation navigates global humanitarian uncertainties with the shutdown of one of its major sponsors, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), by the Donald Trump Administration.
Her expertise in crisis leadership, strategic partnerships, and financial sustainability will be instrumental in expanding Eve for Life’s impact and securing long-term resources.
“Eve for Life is more than an organisation, it’s a beacon of hope and resilience,” said Daniels Radford.
“I am honoured to take on this role and build on the incredible work already being done. My focus is to expand strategic partnerships that not only support the women and girls Eve for Life serves but also engage men and boys in the conversation, ensure long-term financial sustainability, and elevate the organisation’s work in combating violence against women and girls,” added Daniels Radford.
In the meantime, Eve for Life’s co-founder and Executive Director Joy Crawford expressed confidence in Daniels Radford’s leadership.
“Jewel has been an integral part of Eve for Life for years, and her deep understanding of our mission makes her the right person to take on this role. Her leadership will help us strengthen our response to the challenges women and girls face, particularly in securing financial stability and expanding our programmes to reach those most in need,” said Crawford.
“Eve for Life remains committed to empowering women and girls who are survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, young mothers, and those affected by HIV/AIDS through advocacy, mentorship, and support services. Under Daniels Radford’s leadership and the convening of the 2025 board of governors, the organisation aims to expand its reach, increase financial stability, and create new opportunities for cross-sector collaborations to drive lasting impact in Jamaica,” added Crawford.
