Mother, juvenile among suspects in custody for delivery man’s murder
ST MARY, Jamaica — Four people are now in police custody, including a 15-year-old and his mother, as the St Mary Criminal Investigation Bureau continues to probe the circumstances surrounding the murder of a delivery man in Tank Lane, Oracabessa on Tuesday.
Dead is 46-year-old Arthneil “Neil” Saunders, a delivery driver of the same community.
Police reports are that on Tuesday, Saunders had returned home around 11:00 pm and as he was exiting his black Toyota Mark X, he was pounced upon by armed men who opened fire, hitting him on the upper part of his body and damaging his vehicle in the process.
The police were summoned and on their arrival Saunders was seen lying on the ground. He was taken to the Port Maria Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police said four individuals were taken into custody in relation to the incident, including the 15-year-old and his mother.
Describing Saunders as a “people person who got along with everyone in the community”, one resident said: “Boy it hurt me and shake me up badly as the youth was a good youth and everybody love him. Him not known as a wrongdoer, hardworking man.”
A motive for the killing is not yet known.
