Artiste to deliver full set with Unruly Camp
Streetz Festival 2025 has announced internationally renowned dancehall artiste Popcaan as the headliner for this year’s staging, scheduled for August 30 at the National Stadium.
This events marks Popcaan’s first headlining show with his band in Kingston in over a decade, creating excitement among his loyal fans.
Popcaan’s meteoric rise has been fuelled by his unique sound and inspiring collaborations with top international artistes.
Under the mentorship of Vybz Kartel, he joined the Portmore Empire in 2007, gaining widespread recognition with his breakout hit Clarks with Vybz Kartel in 2010. The alliance produced numerous hits, and Popcaan’s early success within the Empire solidified his position as a rising star in dancehall.
Continuing his ascent, Popcaan signed with Drake’s OVO Sound label, further cementing his status in both dancehall and mainstream music. His 2016 collaboration with Drake on Controlla marked the beginning of a series of successful collaborations, including crowd favourites like One Dance, Twist and Turn, and
We Caa Done, which significantly boosted Popcaan’s international profile.
His influence extends beyond music, with his iconic collaboration with the British footwear brand Clarks highlighting his growing impact on both fashion and music.
At Streetz Festival 2025, Popcaan will perform a full set with his band. This includes over a decade of hits, among them Ova Dweet, Only Man She Want, and more.
Streetz Festival has become known for showcasing the best in dancehall music, with previous editions featuring heavyweights like Masicka, Chronic Law, Tarrus Riley, Ding Dong, Lila Iké, and Jahshii.
This year’s festival promises to elevate the celebration of Jamaican music and culture, blending energetic performances with art, food, and Jamaica’s rich heritage.
“We are truly excited to welcome Popcaan, Ruff Kutt Band, and the Unruly Camp to centre stage,” said Chad Williams, one of the festival’s promoters. “His return to a Kingston festival stage in more than 10 years is a monumental moment for Jamaican music and culture. Popcaan’s global influence has elevated dancehall, and we are honoured to have him headline this year’s festival.”
