Retired Justice Carol Lawrence-Beswick appointed chair of Integrity Commission
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Retired Justice Carol Lawrence-Beswick has been appointed the new chairperson of the Integrity Commission.
She will serve alongside current commissioners Auditor General of Jamaica Pamela Monroe Ellis, Retired Justice Lloyd Hibbert, and Wayne Powell, as well as newly appointed commissioner Brian Wynter, a former governor of the Bank of Jamaica.
Lawrence-Beswick’s appointment follows the departure of Justice (Ret’d) Seymour whose chairmanship ended February 25, 2025.
The appointment was made by Governor General Patrick Allen in consultation with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Opposition Leader Mark Golding.
Lawrence-Beswick served over two decades as a puisne judge of the Supreme Court of Jamaica, before retiring in December 2022. She also served as Jamaica’s assistant director of public prosecutions and an acting judge of appeal.
Wynter has a substantial background in monetary policy and financial regulation having served as the governor of the Bank of Jamaica from 2009 to 2019.
Sir Allen also expressed gratitude to the outgoing commissioners Panton and Eric Crawford.
