Brush1, Gio Marr and Circa Eleven toast Carnival season
As Trinidad Carnival gears up to start on March 3, and the Jamaican Carnival season set for April, emcee/selector and personality Brush1 The Road Marshal has teamed up with Gio Mar and Circa Eleven for a uptempo track titled Waistline.
“I’ve worked with Circa Eleven before on a soca track called All A Wi and that song did really well with the soca community locally. So when I wrote this song I automatically thought about them. Gio Mar is a young talent I’ve been watching for a while, and I knew his voice would be perfect for the song. I reached out and he said, “Let’s do it’,” Brush1 The Road Marshal told the Jamaica Observer.
The team has also released an official visualiser which went live on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Brush1 noted that the track has already shown potential for huge success this Carnival season.
“The reception has been great; more than we initially expected. We knew we had something special, but seeing that real-time love is just amazing. Jamaican soca lovers don’t have any representation in the genre, so I believe that also plays a part,” he said.
The entertainer added: “This song will be the soundtrack to Jamaica Carnival 2025. This song is the first step towards creating a soca sound/soca style that is unique to Jamaica.”
Brush1 The Road Marshal is no stranger to all the top events in Jamaica and the region. For several years he has been featured on soca stages such as the Soca+Festival, Bacchanal Jamaica events as well as other popular parties.
He already has a set itinerary for the next coming weeks.
“ After Trinidad Carnival I’ll be heading back to Jamaica to get the ball rolling on Illuminate — Jamaica’s largest soca road rave happening Jamaica Carnival Wednesday. I also have one more song to drop for the season called Small Bumpa, it’s about time the ‘small bumpa’ girls get some love on the scene,” he said.
