Stellar lineup set for Jamaica Woodland Festival at Pearly Beach
A strong cast of roots-reggae artistes will perform at the inaugural Jamaica Woodland Festival which takes place on April 26 at Pearly Beach, on the outskirts of Ocho Rios.
Bushman, Turbulence, Warrior King and Jah Bouks are the established acts confirmed, according to David Anderson, a director of the day-long event. They are complemented by the seasoned Derajah, Dahvid Slur, Jahdon and Jahbar.
Anderson said he and his colleagues have meticulously conjured a concept that appeals to patrons with indiscriminate tastes. The Jamaica Woodland Festival will also showcase the country’s cuisine and pop culture in a nature setting.
“The event will be depicting our motto, Out of Many, One People, through performances, food and that oneness we Jamaicans are good at. By choosing a diverse cast, organisers not only enrich the artistic and cultural scope of the festival, but also contribute to social cohesion and innovation,” Anderson stated.
He noted that the decision to stage the Jamaica Woodland Festival after the Easter holiday at Pearly Beach is strategic. The location has fast become a popular spot for Jamaicans and tourists.
“We believe April will be the best month to host this event and Ocho Rios, as a tourist hub, is an ideal location where people normally travel to enjoy themselves. It is also easy access to visitors and locals,” Anderson explained.
