St Mary Municipal Corporation explains delay in subdivision approval process
Dear Claudienne,
I applied to St Mary Municipal Corporation for a subdivision of land in November 2023. The reference number is 23-xxxxxx. I was told at the time that the process would take three to five months.
The approval was granted in September 2024 by the municipal corporation, then sent to the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation for final approval . Please help me to speed up the process for the final approval because I can’t afford to wait another year.
Thanks,
EN
Dear EN,
Tell Claudienne has been in communication with St Mary Municipal Corporation and has learned that the 90-day processing time for subdivision approvals is oftentimes not achievable because of the technicalities involved in the process.
The applications must be vetted by the Ministry of Health, National Environment Planning Agency (NEPA), National Works Agency, Jamaica Fire Brigade.
After the various agencies approved the application it then had to be vetted and approved by the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation. It also had to be approved by the CEO and councillors of St Mary Municipal Corporation.
Tell Claudienne notes that you collected the approval document in early January.
We wish you all the best.
