WATCH: Police launch probe into alleged suicide of ex-cop in St Ann
St Ann police are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of an ex-cop who allegedly committed suicide while travelling in a taxi in Exchange in the parish on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Alsania Flynch, who resigned as a constable last October, police said.
Reports are that, on Friday morning, Flynch chartered a taxi and went to the Firearm Licensing Authority where she retrieved her licensed firearm. Upon returning via the taxi and reaching in the vicinity of Hand to Mouth Street about 10:15 am, it is alleged that the cop shot herself with the gun.

She was transported to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Commanding officer for the St Ann division, Senior Superintendent of police, Dwight Powell, said detectives are probing the circumstances surrounding Flynch’s passing.
“We are forensicating the vehicle, we have recovered the weapon and it is early days as it relates to the investigation,” Powell said.
He also expressed condolences to Flynch’s family, friends and other loved ones.
