Lushane Wilson wins men’s high jump at Gibson
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Lushane Wilson equalled his season’s best 2.20m to win the men’s high jump at Saturday’s 48th staging of the Gibson/McCook Relays at the National Stadium.
Wilson, who was third last year, had just two attempts clearing 2.15m and 2.20m on his first attempts before failing at 2.26m which would have been a meet record, bettering the 2.25m set last year by Raymond Richards.
Chavez Penn was second with 2.15m and Kabiki Thomas third with 2.00m.
St Andrew High’s Shanniqua Williams won the women’s high jump open with a season’s best equalling 1.75m with Holmwood Technical’s Mikayla Longmore taking second with a personal best 1.65m, edging William Knibb Memorial’s Cheyenne Cooper on the count back as she also cleared 1.65m.
Ryheem Campbell cleared a personal best 4.00m to win the men’s pole vault open, beating Daniel Facey- 3.60m, the same height cleared by third placed Joel Hamm.
