Jamaica College win two of four boys sprint relays at Gibson/McCook
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica College won two of the four high school boys 4x100m relays at Saturday’s 48th staging of the Gibson/McCook Relays at the National Stadium, taking the classes 3 and 4 events.
Calabar High had won the Class 1 final and Kingston College finished first in Class 2.
A strong anchor leg saw Jamaica College win the Class 3 in 42.44 seconds, beating St Jago High who were second in 42.80 seconds and Calabar High who were third in 43.10 seconds.
They also crossed the line first in Class 4, running 45.14 seconds to beat Wolmer’s Boys who were second in 45.39 seconds and St Jago High who were third in 45.71 seconds.
The top three schools in the Class 1 final were all under 40.00 seconds with Calabar High running a World Under-20 leading 39.60 seconds to win, despite some iffy baton changes, to beat Jamaica College who were second in 39.88 seconds and Excelsior High who were third in 39.99 seconds.
Both Kingston College, who were declared winners, and Calabar High were timed in 41.26 seconds in Class 2, with Edwin Allen High taking third in 41.41 seconds.
