Barnes leads SprinTec to 4x400m win at Gibson/McCook
KINGSTON, Jamaican — Zandrion Barnes ran a well judged anchor leg to lead SprinTec to an exciting win in the men’s clubs/institutions 4x400m relays over a strong Racers TC team at the Gibson/McCook Relays at the national Stadium on Saturday.
The SprinTec team clocked three minutes 06.78 seconds, the fastest time outdoors so far this year.
Barnes got the baton just behind the Racers team anchored by World Athletics Championships 400m gold medalist Antonio Watson, and stayed just behind him until about 100 metres before the finish, before swinging past him to win easily. The Racers team was second in 3:07.72 and UTech Track Club third in 3:14.66.
The Racers team also included Jeremy Bembridge and Jevaughn Powell while Demish Gaye ran the third leg for the SprinTec team.
