WATCH: Oil, lubricants threaten cooling down operations for Sav warehouse fire
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Up to this afternoon, firefighters continued cooling down operations for a massive fire at a family-operated warehouse in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland that started Wednesday.
Reports reaching Observer Online are that oils and lubricants stored at the warehouse were fuelling flare-ups even after firefighters had managed to bring the blaze under control.
The first responders are now looking to introduce foam as part of the suppression technique to further cool down the area that has been burning since after 3:00 pm yesterday.
The warehouse is in close proximity to a Regency Petroleum Limited gas station, a church and other commercial buildings in the area.
However, Acting Assistant Commissioner of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Rudolph Seaton says everything is under control, adding that there is nothing to spread beyond a room they have been monitoring since last night.
