Campus Cooking with The Best Dressed Chicken
Meet three UWI students with a culinary groove while juggling academic schedules. With The Best Dressed Chicken and dedication to their studies, they’re transforming simple spaces into kitchens that fuel their success.
A First Year’s Food Adventure: Petra Whitely’s Kitchen Tales Petra Whitely, a social anthropology major, has created a cosy culinary haven in her hall.
Her mornings start with her signature breakfast: Egg scrambled with The Best Dressed Chicken Vienna Sausages and toast. “Breakfast may be quick, but it sets the tone for the day,” she reflects.
Like many discovering independence, Petra developed smart meal strategies. Today’s lunch shows her progress: Curry chicken made with The Best Dressed Chicken drumsticks, white rice, fried plantain, and fresh salad. “The drumsticks are my favourite cut,” she says. “They’re tender and satisfying.”
Hall life has taught her valuable lessons. “I cook or buy food based on my schedule,” she says, gesturing to her well-stocked mini-fridge. “When I cook, I make it count. Bulk preparation saves time and energy.” She plans meals around her grocery purchases for flavour and nutrition.
