Work advancing on electronic land titling project
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Government is looking to finalise awarding of a contract for the Electronic Land Titling Project during the upcoming fiscal year.
A sum of $500 million has been allocated for the project in the 2025/26 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.
The project, being implemented by the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, is intended to improve the efficiency of the land registration process, from the point of application through to issuing of a legally binding proof of title.
One of the project’s main targeted outcomes is improving the capacity, speed, and service levels for the National Land Agency (NLA) Land Titles, Surveys and Mapping, and Land Valuation Divisions.
It is also expected to expedite transaction processing speeds through improved integration of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) involved in this undertaking and increase the accountability of service providers.
The anticipated targets for fiscal year 2025/26 include: the establishment of a project management unit and finalising awarding of the contract to the vendor selected to supply the electronic land-titling database/software.
Approximately $4 billion is forecast to be spent on the full implementation of the Electronic Land Titling Project over several years.
It is expected to be completed by March 2027.
