More than 30,000 registrants help raise record $128m for critical causes
THE 2025 Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run surpassed its $115-million target as a record 30,477 registrants helped raise just over $128 million on Sunday.
Christopher Zacca, president and CEO of Sagicor Group Jamaica and chairman of Sagicor Foundation, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support.
“This year’s Sigma Run has been nothing short of extraordinary. To exceed our target by such a significant margin while also welcoming a record number of registrations is a true testament to the generosity and compassion of the Jamaican people.
“Every dollar raised will go directly towards improving lives, and we are incredibly thankful to everyone who made this possible,” Zacca said following the 27th staging of the annual event.
He also praised sponsors, donors, participants, and volunteers as he declared that, “Sigma Run is more than a fund-raiser — it’s a beacon of hope. Each contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to building a healthier, stronger Jamaica.”
The Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run has now raised more than $875 million for close to 30 charities since its inception, making it the Caribbean’s largest and most impactful road race.
Adding to the excitement of this year’s event were patrons Cedella Marley, philanthropist and daughter of reggae legend Bob Marley; and recording artiste Nigy Boy.
Olympian Rasheed Broadbell also lent his support by inspiring many to participate and give back.
Proceeds from this year’s staging will support critical improvements to Kingston Public Hospital Intensive Care Unit, Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre, and Father Ho Lung and Friends Foundation’s Bethlehem Home, providing much-needed assistance with health-care services and to vulnerable communities.
Last year’s staging, dubbed the Honour Run, raised $109 million for Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, National Chest Hospital, and Danny Williams School for the Deaf.
On Sunday, Victor Kagika, representing Reggae Marathon, crossed the line first in 17.55 minutes securing the top male spot, while Elisabeth Mondon finished in 23.30 minutes, placing first in the female category and defending her title.
