Medical consultants restive over ‘unpaid retroactive salaries’
Jamaica’s medical consultants are restive over what the say are unpaid retroactive salaries from the new Compensation Review, accusing the state of “victimization against consultants working within the government system.”
The Association of Government Medical Consultants made the allegation in a statement following an emergency meeting on Sunday.
“All other public sector groups, including Parliamentarians, received their retroactive salaries promptly, within two months of being paid new salaries,” the association said. “The Medical Consultants view this unfair and unjust action as victimization against consultants
working within the government system.”
It said a firm request was sent to the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service to ensure
retroactive salary payments to medical consultants are within this fiscal year, and no later than
March 2025.
