Inspire Force stuns rivals with dazzling run
AFTER a superb stretch run involving several horses spread across the track, Inspire Force emerged victorious in the $1.25-million James B Dawes Memorial Trophy feature at Caymanas Park on Saturday, claiming top honours with a thrilling late surge.
Trained by Philip Feanny, Inspire Force trailed the leaders early on but Raddesh Roman’s masterful ride brought the horse into contention on the half-mile turn. Jordon Reign’s (Ismael Velasquez), Taurus Boy (Omar Walker), and Banadura (Chris Mamdeen) all turned for home with winning chances, however as the pack approached the final stretch Inspire Force, ridden by Roman, unleashed a blistering burst of speed, sweeping past rivals to win by two and three quarter lengths.
The victory came in the Non-Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward, covering five and a half furlongs (1,100m) in a time of 1:06.4 minutes.
It was the second winner on the day for Roman who also won aboard Generational for trainer Adrian Prince in the fourth race.
Jockey Shane Ellis is not to be left out of the celebration party as he had three winners on the 10-race card. His winners were Propellant for trainer Gary Subratie, Easy Money for trainer Anthony Nunes, and
Main Mistress for trainer Peter-John Parsard.
Racing continues next weekend with events on Saturday and Sunday.
