U17 Reggae Boyz rout Cayman, one point away from World Cup qualification
Jamaica are a point away from qualifying for the FIFA Men’s Under-17 World Cup in Qatar later this year after swamping Cayman Islands 10-1 for their second win in the CONCACAF qualifiers in Guatemala Wednesday afternoon.
Jaquan Brown, Seymour Reid and Jahmarie Nolan scored braces for the young Reggae Boyz who are at the top of the qualifying group on goal-difference over El Salvador who defeated St Lucia 2-0 in the second game on Wednesday.
A win or a draw on Saturday against El Salvador will mean Jamaica will qualify for the U17 World Cup in Qatar in November. Jamaica had beaten St Lucia 3-1 in their first game played on Monday.
On Wednesday, Brown sent Jamaica into the lead after just 11 minutes, Cadriano Marsh made it 2-0 in the 25th minute before three goals in the final eight minutes of the first half took the game away from the Cayman Islands.
Zienodene McLean made the scores 4-0 in the 37th minute before Reid scored his brace with goals in the 40th and 44th minutes as the half ended with the Jamaicans ahead 6-0.
Owen Jump added a seventh goal in the 48th minute, Nolan got the first of his two in the 64th minute and Brown completed his brace in the 68th minute.
Orel Miller made it 9-0 in the 73rd minute before Jagger Alban scored in the 84th minute for the Cayman Islands.
