Reggae Boyz to play international at Sabina Park
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Concacaf Gold Cup qualifying return game against St Vincent and the Grenadines will be played at Sabina Park, due to the unavailability of the National Stadium, it was confirmed on Thursday.
Jamaica will play the first leg away to St Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday, March 21 at the Arnos Vale Stadium and then host the eastern Caribbean country on Tuesday, March 25.
With the ISSA Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships set for the National Stadium, from March 25-29, the Jamaica Football Federation was forced to seek an alternate venue for the game.
Jamaica’s Boyz, who were knocked out of the Concacaf Nations League at the quarterfinal stage, had to qualify for the Gold Cup, and the winners of each of the seven ties will qualify for the group stages which is scheduled to run from June 14 to July 6.
The draw for the group stages of the Gold Cup is set for April 10.
This will be the first time since March 2018, that our senior men’s national team will be playing an international at Sabina Park.
Our senior women’s team played a world cup qualifier against the Dominican Republic in 2022, while in 2023 Sabina Park hosted a group in the prelims of the U17 women’s qualifiers.
