Jah Vinci celebrates 37th birthday with friends

Singer set to release new single on Valentine’s Day

Singer Jah Vinci is still basking in the success of his most recent hit single Scream, which topped several charts in December.

On Sunday night, along with several of his family members, friends from the entertainment fraternity and well-wishers, the ‘world singer’ celebrated his 37th birthday in Chancery Hall.

In an interview with the Jamaica Observer during the birthday celebration, Jah Vinci said it was important to have his peers from the entertainment industry in attendance.

“Mi feel good that they are here, because most a who deh here know say mi big bro died on my birthday. So fi have dem here it means suppen to mi. Big up to everybody weh turn out tonight,” said Jah Vinci.

Several well-known faces were seen among the attendees. They include former Portmore Empire members Gaza Indu, Shawn Storm, and Popcaan; music video director Shane Creative; designer Moonie; Twin of Twins; selector Rolex; deejay Topmann; singer Nordia Mothersille; and deejay Soun Bwoii.

Jah Vinci is set to release a new single on Valentine’s Day.

According to music producer Notnice, the track is something for the ladies.

“Look out February 14, we a drop suppen big for the ladies,” Notnice told the Observer.

The new single is the follow-up to the massive hit Scream — the second major hit for Jah Vinci within the space of two years.

Asked how he has been consistent in producing hit songs, the newly minted Double Seven Energy Drink brand ambassador said: “Mi sing song weh people can relate to; it’s not a hard process. Mi sing song with meaning behind it. Mi know weh di ladies want, mi know weh di thugs dem waan fi hear, and weh people can relate to.”

Jah Vinci (real name Kirk Rhoden) emerged on the music scene in 2005, but it wasn’t until three years later that he scored a breakthrough single with Vybz Kartel titled Weh Dem a Go. Since then he has continued on an upward trajectory, scoring hits like Virgin, Watch Yuh Friends, Pretty Little Rose, Nobody Knows (Where Do Angels Go), and Mama Love.

“Mi haffi big up mi journey; mi journey mek mi deh here. Mi love music, mi love singing, because mi a dweet from mi heart. To see people accept it and love it is amazing,” Jah Vinci said.
