‘Cuttie’ charged after murder confession
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A 22-year-old man who goes by “Cuttie” has been charged with murder following an incident in the Sunny Heights community of Thornton district, St Elizabeth on Friday, February 7.
Daniel Francis is charged with the death of 20-year-old Iyanla Hicks, also known as ‘Britney,’ a teacher from the same area.
According to reports from the Black River police, between 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm on Friday, a relative of Hicks visited her home. Upon entering, the relative encountered Francis and inquired about her whereabouts. Francis directed him to her locked bedroom. The relative then went around the side of the house to peer through a window and discovered Hicks lying in a pool of blood, according to the report.
The police were called, and upon arriving at the scene, they found Hicks lying on her back. The scene was processed, and her body was removed.
On Sunday, February 10, Francis was formally charged after providing a caution statement in which he admitted to the crime.
His court date is being finalised.
