Archbishop Emeritus Edgerton Clarke has died
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kingston Kenneth Richards has expressed his deep sorrow at the death of Archbishop Emeritus Edgerton Clarke.
After ailing for several months he passed away at 1:30 pm, on Thursday the day before his 96th Birthday.
Jamaican-born Clarke was ordained a priest in February 1960. He served as Bishop of Montego Bay and the Antilles for 27 years before being installed as Archbishop of Kingston in November 1994.
He retired in February 2004.
The Roman Catholic Chancery will share information on the Thanksgiving Mass for the late Archbishop Emeritus as soon as plans are finalised.
