Jamaica Women’s Premier League set for March 1
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The rebranded Jamaica Women’s Premier League will kick off on March 1, 2025.
The league will feature 11 teams and the newly established Professional Women’s Football Jamaica Limited (PWFJL) will be responsible for the commercialisation and management of the league.
There will be an increase in teams for the 2025 season, jumping to 11 from last season’s seven.
The participating teams include Arnett Gardens FC, Cavalier SC, and UWI Women’s FC, representing Kingston and St Andrew; Wifi United FC from Portland and Proven Girls FC from St Thomas, Mile Gully FC and Los Perfectos FC from Manchester, Frazsiers Whip FC and Federal United FC from St Catherine while representing St James are Springers United FC and Real Mobay AFC.
Chairperson of PWFJL, Christina Hudson, emphasised the significance of this transition and the vision for the league.
“This is not just about maintaining a league; it’s about transforming it into a fully professional competition that creates real opportunities for our players. Our goal is to establish a league that is commercially viable, sustainable and competitive at the highest level. We want our young women to benefit from structured financial support and long-term career pathways in football. Through strategic partnerships and enhanced visibility, we will ensure that the Jamaica Women’s Premier League becomes a leading force in women’s football across the region.”

Along with Sherwin Williams, additional sponsors have come on board including KFC, WATA and Supreme Ventures.
Hudson also called on participating clubs, players and coaches to play their part in maintaining the league’s integrity and professionalism.
“This league’s success depends on the commitment of our clubs and players. We encourage everyone to honour their fixtures, respect our sponsors, and give their best on the field. Every match is an opportunity to showcase the immense talent that exists in Jamaica and demonstrate why women’s football deserves continued investment and support,” Hudson said.
The schedule for the fixtures is expected to be released at the end of the week with the start date set for Saturday, March 1.
