Brothers charged with taxi operators’ murder
KINGSTON, Jamaica- Two brothers have been implicated in the October 19, 2024 fatal shooting of 37-year-old taxi operator Andre Wilson of Nannyville Gardens, Kingston.
Charged with murder and possession of prohibited weapon are 21-year-old deliveryman Kadeem Smith of Providence Pen Lane, Swallowfield and 24-year-old Kareem Smith of Stoney River Path, Nannyville both in Kingston.
Reports from the Half -Way Tree police are that about 7:38 pm, Wilson was walking in his community when he was approached by the Smith duo, who were armed with firearms. They reportedly opened gunfire at him hitting him multiple times. Wilson ran in an effort to elude his attackers, who gave chase and shot him again before escaping in the area.
The police were summoned and on their arrival the injured man was seen with gunshot wounds. He was assisted to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An intelligence-driven investigation led to the arrest of the brothers. They were taken into custody and subsequently charged on Wednesday, based on an alleged eyewitness statement.
Their court date is being finalised.
