Licensed firearm holder shoots man caught stealing fuel
ST MARY, Jamaica – A licensed firearm holder shot and injured a 29 year-old man Saturday when he allegedly discovered him at his business establishment stealing fuel.
Reports are that around 5:15 am, the businessman was making a regular early morning check at his business, located at Wharf Road, Oracabessa, when he saw the man removing fuel from a tractor trailer.
He confronted the man who allegedly swung a piece of iron at him. In defending himself, he reportedly pulled his firearm and shot at his attacker.
The suspect fled the scene and the firearm holder reported the matter to the Oracabessa police.
The injured suspect sought medical treatment for gunshot wounds at the Port Maria hospital where he was admitted in serious but stable condition.
He reported that he was shot by an unidentified man while walking along Wharf Road in Oracabessa.
The Port Maria criminal investigation branch is investigating.
