Indecom probes three police fatal shootings in St Mary and St Catherine
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom) has launched investigations into three separate fatal shooting incidents by police officers that occurred on January 30, 2025.
Two of the incidents took place in St Mary, while the third occurred in St Catherine.
The deceased have been identified as 32-year-old Jhevaughn Peart, 21-year-old Kevaughn Williams, and 27-year-old Joseph Williamson.
In each incident, one man was fatally shot, and a total of four firearms were reportedly recovered. No body-worn cameras were issued or worn by the officers involved.

Indecom said its investigators examined all three scenes, collecting and processing evidential material. The hands of the deceased were swabbed for gunshot residue while the officers involved have provided initial accounts and were served with Section 21 Notices under the Independent Commission of Investigations Act, 2010, requiring them to submit statements and attend interviews.
