Man pleads guilty to two counts of larceny and assault
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 27-year-old man accused of robbing two women, one of whom he assaulted, pleaded guilty to the charges laid against him when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.
Delando Patterson appeared before presiding Senior Parish Judge Sanchia Burrell, charged with two counts of larceny and assault.
In one incident, it is alleged that Patterson stole a bag containing a purse, credit card and health insurance card from a woman who attempted to chase after him. She later identified him to the police and the health insurance card was reportedly found in his possession.
In another incident, Patterson was accused of stealing $20,500 and a phone from another woman.
Commenting on his actions, Judge Burrell remarked, “He’s not smart.”
She asked Patterson, “What are we going to do with you? You have no use criminally.”
Patterson was remanded in custody, and his sentencing is scheduled for April 16, 2025.
