JCF commits to full probe into woman’s fatal shooting at Clarendon hotel involving cop
CLARENDON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says it is treating the investigation into the death of 20-year-old Jimoy Suckoo, who was fatally shot while at a hotel with her police officer partner, with utmost seriousness.
Noting that they are aware of the Hotel Versailles incident the JCF said, “The incident reportedly involved a constable who is attached to the Specialized Operations Branch. The matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness, and a thorough investigation is underway. The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has taken charge of the investigation, and the JCF is fully cooperating to ensure transparency and accountability.”
The police officer gave statements indicating that his gun had accidentally fired and hit Suckoo, however, the girl’s family members have since disputed such claims. It has also been reported that the officer provided conflicting accounts of the incident.
“As the investigation progresses, the JCF remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Ms Suckoo during this difficult time. Further updates will be provided,” the JCF said.
