Bahamian student dies after collapsing in physical education class
NASSAU, The Bahamas (CMC) — The Catholic Board of Education (CBE) has confirmed that a ninth-grade student at Aquinas College in The Bahamas has died after collapsing during a physical education class.
The CBE said that trained personnel provided immediate assistance to Ethan Clarke and he was transported to Doctors Hospital, where he later died. His cause of death was not disclosed.
The statement said that a team of counsellors and clergy will be on hand to provide support to students, teachers and parents as they process this loss. The CBE described Clarke, who joined Aquinas College in September 2024, as kind and mannerly, and a member of the school’s band.
The statement said Archbishop Patrick C Pinder, the Catholic Board of Education Chairman Lambert Longley and the broader Catholic school system have since extended condolences to Clarke’s parents, relatives and friends.
