Porsche parties
ATL Motorsports, the brand of the ATL Automotive Group responsible for the Porsche line of vehicles, closed off a successful year with a Mingle event on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at its New Kingston showroom.
“So things will be happening for Porsche in 2025. In January, the big thing is going to be the Macan Electric and the updated Taycan. We expect these electric cars to change the game for Porsche. We’re also looking at the new 911, the hybrid version, that car will hit our streets early next year as the new GTS is an amazing product. On the aftersales side, we’re expanding. That’s more trained technicians, with the right qualifications, to ensure that cars can be in and out of the shop quickly for customers to have that seamless experience they expect. Longer term, new facilities coming,” Uche McLean, head of business, Porsche Jamaica, told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Auto magazine.
He attributes Porsche’s penetration of the Jamaican luxury vehicle market to the quality and range of the models now on sale.
“I consider myself a bit lucky to come in at a time when so many amazing products we being released, Taycan, the new Cayenne, and even the newer versions of the 911, the GT3 RS for example. Huge product, and I think that catapulted the demand for 911s in general. The new Cayenne speaks for itself. It’s Porsche’s best-selling model and continues to be. And then, of course, the Macan continues to do what it does. It’s always there, with people loving it,” he said.
McLean broke the news that he will be transitioning to a new role within the ATL Automotive Group, as deputy general manager, Oxford Road, but looked fondly back at his time helping the Porsche brand achieve what it has after just over two years under his stewardship.
“It’s been an amazing experience — a next level one, to be honest. I have learned so much, grown so much, and I’ve managed to see the brand grow beyond what people would have expected it to be,” said McLean.
