Green Pond chase fourth win in Sandals Major League
GREEN POND, St James — Green Pond SC will go after a fourth-straight win in the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League when they host winless Flanker FC in a Zone B game at Green Pond High at 3:30 this afternoon.
Green Pond SC, who started the season with three consecutive victories, will be seeking their first win over Flanker FC in the competition. Last season, Green Pond drew and lost in their two games against Flanker.
Green Pond SC will start favourites to win this encounter as they are taking on a Flanker FC team that has drawn all three games this season. Flanker have only scored two goals in the process, one of which was an own goal.
So far, Green Pond SC have been the most prolific team in the competition with 11 goals scored. Garth Bromwell and Devoi Douglas both lead with three goals each.
In another contest, Montego Bay Boys’ Club will be going after back-to-back wins when they take on Cambridge FC who will be seeking to rebound with a win after ending their winning start with a draw in their previous game.
Montego Bay Boys’ Club are third in Zone B after edging Norwood Strikers 1-0 on Sunday, their first win of the season. They have already matched their win total over the last two seasons.
Boys’ Club’s win last year came in the boardroom after they were awarded points from a first-round game against Cambridge FC who were found to have used an ineligible player.
Cambridge FC had returned to defeat Boys’ Club 3-0 in the second round. Cambridge, on seven points from two wins and a draw, are three points clear of Montego Bay Boys’ Club.
