Cavalier draw with Waterhouse in JPL second round match
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Despite a double from Jalmaro Calvin, defending champions Cavalier FC were held 2-2 by Waterhouse FC in their second round Jamaica Premier League (JPL) match played at the Anthony Spaulding Complex on Monday.
Waterhouse FC came from behind twice with Javane Bryan coming off the bench to score the tying goal in time added.
The draw resulted in the teams’ positions on the points table remaining unchanged with Cavalier FC in fourth on 28 points, one place and one point ahead of Waterhouse FC.
Cavalier FC, who were drawing back-to-back games and have drawn a third game in their last four outings, led 1-0 at half time after Calvin scored in the 20th minute.
Andre Fletcher drew Waterhouse FC level a minute into the second half but Calvin restored Cavalier FC’s lead when he scored his 10th goal of the season in the 53rd minute.
Bryan, last season’s leading scorer who came on in the 65th minute, grabbed a vital goal as time ran out, salvaging a point for Waterhouse FC.
In the first game of the double header, Tivoli Gardens came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw with Portmore United who extended their winless run to seven games.
Romeo Guthrie gave Portmore United the lead after eight minutes but Steve Clarke, a second half substitute, scored for Tivoli Gardens in the 55th minute.
