Rep Yuh Parish deadline extended to Feb 1
Double Seven Jamaica partners with Dancehall Week activity
The deadline for entries for the highly anticipated Rep Yuh Parish competition has been extended until February 1, 2025, thanks to an official partnership with Double Seven Jamaica.
Talented group dancers and disc jockeys/sound system selectors from all over the island have a greater opportunity to show off their skills for a chance to win up to $1.5 million in cash and prizes.
Bobette Bolton, brand manager for Double Seven, noted that the competition — which is an official part of Dancehall Week celebrations — coincides with its values.
“Rep Yuh Parish is a showcase of Jamaican dancehall culture and it gives an opportunity for these talented persons to showcase their interpretation of the energy and vibe through their cultural expressions. This is what Double Seven Energy Drink is all about and we want to fuel this creativity,” Bolton told the Jamaica Observer.
She further said that the partnership will fuel the dancehall culture and pave the way for talented Jamaicans to be given a viable platform.
“Double Seven Energy Drink will, through Dancehall Week activities and Rep Yuh Parish, be able to reach those Jamaicans that would benefit from not only the great taste and energy that you get from the drink, but also the resources and support that Double Seven is prepared to put behind the development of Jamaican popular culture and dancehall,” the brand manager added.
Meanwhile, Talisa Taylor, project manager for Dancehall Week, welcomed the partnership and anticipates even more entries.
“We have already been seeing so much support with the number of entries so far, and I am certain that this partnership with Double Seven Jamaica will amplify the competition and, by extension, the Dancehall Week brand,” Taylor told the Observer.
Dancehall Week, slated for February 23- March 2, 2025, is officially a part of the Reggae Month celebrations, promising to be a landmark event that not only entertains but also educates and inspires both new and long-standing fans of dancehall culture.
