Vybz Kartel salutes fans, Downsound, sponsors
...says Freedom Street performances, execution set new standard in dancehall
Declaring it a night to remember, Vybz Kartel has expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone who made the recent Freedom Street event electrifying.
On a night when multiple events competed for attention across the island, thousands of fans flocked to Jamaica’s largest arena for the first full stage performance of the beloved artiste.
“New Year’s Eve was nothing short of legendary,” the entertainer said. “Freedom Street wasn’t just a concert, it was a movement, a celebration of resilience, artistry, and the unbreakable bond I share with my fans. To the people who filled the National Stadium and created a sea of unity and energy, I am humbled and honoured by your love.”
The self-styled Worl’ Boss heaped praises on the all-star line-up of artistes and selectors who ignited the stage before anticipation gave way to pure euphoria and he rose from beneath the stage to deliver a performance for the ages.
“From the lyrical fire of Spice and Bounty Killer to the electric vibes of Popcaan, Tommy Lee Sparta, Chronic Law, Shawn Storm, Jah Vinci, Sheba, Gaza Indu, Lisa Hyper, Skeng, Likkle Addi and Likkle Vybz, and my international stars Busta Rhymes and Shatta Wale, and all the other artistes who brought their A-game; we proved why Jamaica is the epicentre of global music,” he said.
Even before the first act took the stage, fans were already praising the smooth organisation.
Shanelle Myrie, who flew in from New York City, shared her excitement.
“I arrived at 3 [o’clock] to ensure everything went smoothly, and it did. There was no traffic, security was courteous and efficient, and I could tell from the start that Freedom Street was going to be a world-class experience.”
Michelle Mattherson, a long-time fan of Downsound Entertainment’s productions, echoed similar sentiments.
“The moment the show was announced, I booked my flight and bought my ticket without hesitation. Downsound Entertainment never disappoints, and this event was no exception,” she said.
Kartel also recognised Downsound Entertainment, whose execution elevated the production.
“Big up and nuff respect to Joe Bogdanovich and the entire Downsound team for believing in this historic moment and delivering a concert that felt like the Super Bowl of dancehall,” Kartel added.
Acknowledgement was also made to all sponsors and partners who brought Freedom Street to life.
From near-seamless traffic management and top-tier security to bar service with top-shelf offerings, and a bustling food court, every detail reflected a strong commitment to delivering an unforgettable experience. Months of planning culminated in a night that will go down in history.
“Big up to the fans who made every moment electric and unforgettable,” Kartel said after the event, “This is just the beginning. The best of Vybz Kartel is yet to come.”
