Tevin Foster impressed by Honour Prince’s dominant win
Jockey Tevin Foster has praised Honour Prince after the two-year-old bay colt’s resounding 11-length victory in a maiden special weight contest for native-bred juveniles on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
Trained by Robert Pearson, Honour Prince devoured the six-furlong distance in a time of 1:15.0 (24.0 x 48.3 x 1:01.2).
Foster, who rode with confidence, was impressed by Honour Prince’s potential, describing him as “a promising horse”.
“He is young and so he has time to mature; he is still green, but let’s see what the future holds for him,” Foster told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
Despite Honour Prince’s inexperience, Foster believes the colt has a bright future ahead of him.
“He is a good horse in the making, and he will develop nicely,” Foster predicted.
Breaking sharply from the gate, Honour Prince quickly took command of the race, assuming the lead ahead of Khaleesi (Raddesh Roman), Badgal Chelsea (Calvin Bailey), and Cosalivin (Dick Cardenas).
As the field navigated the half-mile turn, Honour Prince maintained a strong pace, beginning to draw away from his rivals approaching the distance.
Turning for home with a commanding lead, Honour Prince turned on the power, powering home with easy.
Mark My Identity (Richard Henry) finished second, with Cosalivin taking third place.
Honour Prince is bred by Bern Identity out of the Fort Larned mare Awesome City.
