Cambridge and Green Pond shoot for win number three
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Cambridge United and Green Pond SC will be hoping to extend their winning starts to the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League today as they both seek a third-straight victory.
Cambridge United will take on Flanker FC at the Flanker Community Centre and Green Pond SC tackles Heights FC at the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) field, both games set to start at 3:00 pm.
Davian McLean, who scored the competition’s only hat-trick in Cambridge United’s opening game win over Norwood Strikers is expected to lead the attack today against Flanker FC, who have got off to a slow start, drawing both games played so far and scoring just one goal.
Green Pond SC are also off to a fast start and have scored a league high eight goals in their two games played so far.
They will, however, be seeking their first win over Heights FC since last season after they drew 2-2 in their first game and then lost 2-0 in the second round.
On paper Green Pond SC are expected to win today against a Heights FC team that got off to a slow start, with one point from their two games.
Garth Bromwell, Devoi Douglas, and Renaldeno Wilson have all scored two goals each so far and are expected to lead Green Pond SC today in their quest for another win.
