Born to Shine Talent Search offering $1-m, contract prizes
The first annual staging of the Born to Shine Talent Search is offering $1 million and a recording contract to the winner.
Open to participants across Jamaica and internationally, this competition invites artistes to step into the spotlight and launch their music careers.
Slated for January 24 at Mandeville Primary and Junior High School in Manchester, the event will feature an after-party with performances by Bounty Killer, Kraff, Big Sound Bass Odyssey, Xkappe, and more. It will be hosted by ZJ Sparks and Hype Type.
“This event means doing what I love, helping talented artistes, musicians and entrepreneurs be successful off their talent,” co-conceptualiser of the event Texroy Elliott told the Jamaica Observer.
Judges will include Bounty Killer, DJ Mac and Steel Chest.
Born to Shine is a Jamaican company, co-founded by Erika Vassell, dedicated to empowering talent and fostering success. Elliott, a seasoned promoter and artiste manager, and Vassell —a motivational leader known for creating systems that help entrepreneurs transform their potential into success — bring their combined expertise to this groundbreaking initiative.
“This isn’t just about music; it’s about creating opportunities for artistes to shine,” Elliott said.
The music business insider — who has been in the industry for over 30 years and manages on-the-rise talent Xkappe — says he is optimistic about the event.
“My hope is for a successful event and to help as much talented people tap into their full potential and have fruitful careers,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Xkappe said he will be delivering a memorable set at the talent search’s after-party.
“On the night of the show, I will also introduce some artistes that are around me, so the people can look out for a vibe because I will only put out my best work,” he told the Observer.
