Run Julie Run stamps authority in Miracle Man Cup
In a dominant front-running display, four-year-old grey filly Run Julie Run left her rivals in the dust, easily capturing the $2-million Miracle Man Cup feature over seven furlongs (1,400m) at Caymanas Park on Wednesday.
With heavy favourite Legacy Isle being pulled up mid-race, Run Julie Run seized the opportunity and sprinted to a convincing 5 ¾-length victory. When jockey Dane Dawkins asked Run Julie Run to go shortly after turning for home, The Successful Native offspring responded well and powered home ahead of Barnaby (Omar Walker) and Perfect Brew (Ismael Velasquez).
Trained by Ian Parsard, the impressive filly stopped the clock in 1:25.0 (24.4 x 48.0 x 1:12.2) in the Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward.
It was the second winner on the nine-race card for Dawkins as he booted home Sensational Move in the third race for trainer Gary Subratie.
Trainer Anthony Nunes started the new year in good form, saddling three winners. He won with Tribal Chief, Prince Amaan, and Smart Trick in the day’s second, fourth, and eighth races, respectively. Both Tribal Chief and Prince Amaan were ridden by Omar Walker, while Shane Ellis was aboard Smart Trick.
Ellis had booted home Drone Strike for owner/trainer Paul Charlton in the sixth race for two winners.
Racing continues on Saturday
