Exodus reaches highest peak on Billboard Reggae chart
Forty-seven years after it was released, Exodus, the multi-certified album by Bob Marley and the Wailers has reached a new peak on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
The album rose to #4 after a deluxe edition was released in 2001 and has has now climbed to #3.
Exodus, which has been certified gold in America, Canada, France, Germany, and Italy, was certified platinum in the UK.
In its original form, Exodus contained 10 tracks, including the hit title track, Jamming, Waiting in Vain, Turn Your Lights Down Low, Natural Mystic, and Three Little Birds.
Joining Exodus inside the current Billboard Reggae Albums chart is the long-running #1
Legend, which clocks 259 non-consecutive weeks in pole position.
Kaya, released in 1978, re-enters the chart at #10.
Elsewhere on the Billboard Reggae chart, Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy, remains at #2, while World on Fire by Stick Figure dips to #4.
Dutty Classics Collection and Dutty Rock by Sean Paul both slip one spot down to #5 and #6, respectively.
Greatest Hits by UB40 dips to #7 while Stick Figure occupies #8 and #9 with Set in Stone and Wisdom, respectively.
Skip Marley continues to see an upward trajectory for his latest single Close, which samples Maxi Priest’s 1990 Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit Close to You.
Close lifts from #27 to #23 in its 7th week on Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay.
Meanwhile, Akon’s Beautiful Day by Akon, which samples the Jermaine Edwards hit
It’s a Beautiful Day, backtracks from #7 to #8 in its 11th week on the chart.
Awuke by Davido featuring YG Marley steps up from #32 to #31. The song moves up from #15 to #13 on Billboard’s US Afrobeats Songs chart.
On the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart, Jamaican-born Legato takes over the #1 spot with Reggae Music Still Deh Ya. How Long by Blk Orchid moves up to #2, while
I Am the One by 6iixGal is #3.
Karma by Skystar is #4, Derailed by Chester Miller, featuring Teacha Dee is #5, and
Winning by JUNO nominee Omega Mighty, enters at #8 with Winning.
