NHT urges caution when applying for returns
KINGSTON, Jamaica-The National Housing Trust (NHT) is advising its customers to beware of third party sites as they prepare to apply for refunds as of January 1.
“Ensure the use of secure, official NHT platforms only, avoid third party websites,” it said in a press release.
The warning comes as phishing and spoofing scams increasingly affect Jamaicans.
The agency says there are three official channels where applications can be made, namely, the NHT website (www.nht.gov.jm ), the NHT mobile app, and the ‘NHT Online’ platform (online.nht.gov.jm).
The NHT is now accepting applications for a refund of contributions made in 2017 or earlier, and it is also encouraging residents to make sure their information is correctly inputted.
“Double-check details such as name, banking information, and contribution history. Incorrect information causes delays in the processing of applications and will likely result in the application needing to be redone,” the NHT said.
The agency, which begins processing applications on January 1 is also reminding residents that applications can be made throughout the year.
