Legacy Isle expected to blow away field in Miracle Man Cup feature
The 2025 racing season kicks off at Caymanas Park tomorrow with a nine-race card, headlined by the $2-million Miracle Man Cup. The seven-furlong Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward has attracted a field of 10, including the highly rated Legacy Isle.
Trained by Rohan Crichton, Legacy Isle makes his return to the track after a narrow defeat in the Mouttet Mile on December 7. The five-year-old American-bred gelding has been lightly trained for this event and is expected to win with authority.
Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a look at each runner and their chances of winning the first major race of the new season.
1. RUN JULIE RUN: (4 gr f by Successful Native – Runaway Julie) – Talented filly who is expected to run a good race. Her win in the Chairman’s Plate on December 7, 2024 was impressive where she won by 4 3/4 lengths in 1:54.2 for 9 furlongs and 25 yards. She has also shown consistent form in her previous races to suggest that she should go home with a piece of the cake.
2. PERFECT BREW: (6 b g by Bern Identity – Midnight Brew) – Unlikely to make an impact.
3. SISTREN TREASURE: (USA) (5 b m by Brethren – Katira) – Not a realistic contender. Sistren Treasure has shown little form in her previous races and is expected to be outclassed by the stronger competition.
4. BARNABY (USA): (4 b c by Tapiture – Giants Diva) – Barnaby finished seventh in the Mouttet Mile, but is expected to run a much-improved race.
5. FEARLESS SOUL: (5 ch h by Soul Warrior – Rumble) – Not recommended for a winning run. Fearless Soul has shown little form in his previous races and is expected to struggle against the stronger competition.
6. POWER FROM ABOVE: (5 ch m by Key to Power – Blufield) – Would prefer a longer distance. Power From Above has shown her best form over longer distances and is expected to struggle with the shorter distance of the Miracle Man Cup.
7. RAINSVILLE: (6 gr g by Casual Trick – Fiftyshadesofray) – Can safely be bypassed here.
8. PRESS CONFERENCE: (7 ch g by Twilight Time – Lady Shankari) – Likely to struggle.
9. ATLANTIC CONVOY (CAN): (5 ch h by Stormy Atlantic – My Sweet Emily)
– Could contend for a minor share. Atlantic Convoy was an impressive winner of the Bruceontheloose Sprint over 6 1/2 furlongs on December 7, 2024. He won by 5 lengths in 1:18.4 and has shown impressive speed in his previous races.
10. LEGACY ISLE (USA): (5 b h by Shackleford – Queenameina) – Expected to win with authority. Legacy Isle has been lightly trained and is ready for this race. He’s a talented horse who has shown his ability when losing out by a neck to Funcaandun in the Mouttet Mile. Legacy Isle is expected to rebound here with a win.
