King’s Counsel Norma Linton passes, PNP pays tribute
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Attorney-at-law Norma Linton has passed away.
Linton started her legal career in 1971. She was also a founding member of the Advocates Association of Jamaica where she served previously as a president.
The People’s National Party (PNP) in a statement Tuesday extended heartfelt condolences to family, friends, and colleagues of Linton who it described as a “trailblazer in law, a mentor to many and a lifelong advocate for justice and fairness”.
The PNP noted that since beginning her illustrious career, Linton has been a shining example of dedication, professionalism and excellence and played a pivotal role in elevating the practice of law and championing the principles of equity and justice in society.
“Her fearless advocacy in numerous high-profile cases showcased her brilliance and courage, qualities that earned her the admiration of peers and the respect of all who encountered her,” the party said.
“Beyond her legal accomplishments, Mrs Linton KC will be remembered for her immense contribution to the development of young professionals. Through her mentorship, she nurtured a generation of lawyers who continue to uphold the high standards she exemplified. Her guidance, wisdom and generosity have left an indelible mark on the legal profession and on Jamaica as a whole,” it continued.
Describing Linton as a “stalwart advocate for justice” and an “extraordinary woman whose life’s work has enriched the lives of so many”, the PNP said her legacy will live on in the principles of justice and fairness to which she dedicated her life.
