28 per cent drop in St Mary murders — police
PORT MARIA, St Mary — Head of the St Mary Police Division, Acting Superintendent Anthony Wallace has commended the team he leads for what he says has been exemplary community policing and a reduction in crime within the parish.
He told the Jamaica Observer that St Mary has seen a 28 per cent reduction in murders compared to last year.
“This progress is a testament to the division’s dedication to reducing major crime and making each citizen feel safe,” said Wallace.
He said during the festive season more than 100 cops were deployed in the major towns to maintain law and order.
“This was a comprehensive plan to make the parish safe during this time,” said the senior officer.
“As we approach New Year’s Eve into 2025 these efforts will continue with increased vigilance and community collaboration,” he assured.
