Green Pond, Cambridge hunt back-to-back wins in St James/Sandals Major League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Zone B leaders Green Pond SC and Cambridge United will both go in search of back-to-back wins when the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League continues with two games this afternoon.
Green Pond SC are scheduled to take on Norwood Strikers at the Albion play field, while Cambridge United face Heights FC at the UDC field. Both games are set to start at 3:00 pm.
Green Pond SC, made up of schoolboys from Green Pond High, won their opening game a week ago, defeating Montego Bay Boys Club 5-1 at home. Cambridge United beat Norwood Strikers 3-1 at Albion.
Heights FC, who had drawn against Flanker FC in their opening game, and Norwood Strikers will both be seeking their first wins of the campaign.
Davian McLean, who scored a hat-trick in Cambridge United’s opening game, will hope to continue his good scoring form in a matchup of teams that just missed qualifying for the semi-finals last season.
Heights FC had got off to a good start last season, winning their first two games, and will hope to get into the winning column as soon as possible.
Norwood Strikers returned to the competition after missing last season and face a young team that has been playing together for a while. Norwood could be made to work hard if they are to get any success.
